Keeping our lights burning
Nov 9, 2018
We are proud to kick off Shine a Light for the Holidays campaign with 98Cool on Nov. 14 in our lobby.
This campaign brings shines an awareness on our programs and services that YWCA Saskatoon offers here for women and families in our community.
Whether it is keeping rooms open for women who are survivors of domestic violence, drug and alcohol addictions, homeless, or trouble with mental health, or keep programs available to people of all ages who are unemployed or having trouble finding work, or those who utilize our fitness centre and pool to keep their physical fitness up, at YWCA Saskatoon a light shines on important issues that many people face in Saskatoon.
For Shannon Friesen, Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA Saskatoon, a few of the many important issues that women and families face today include gender equality, adequate and appropriate housing, taking into account gender specific issues, and support for leaving unsafe situations.
The Shine a Light campaign is an important step in providing care and support for women and families tackling these issues in our own backyard.
And donor support is crucial, as a donor your support changes lives of those who enter our doors.
“YWCA Saskatoon relies on support from our community to ensure we are able to provide much needed support to women and their families. Especially during the holiday season, we strive to be that warm, safe place for any person that comes through our front doors. Thank you to our friends and supporters, together we are ensuring that no one is left behind.”
